Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) remains committed to ensuring that all members of our community receive equitable access to cancer prevention, screening, and early detection. Our Patient Navigation Program enhances our ability to continue providing world-class, patient-centered cancer care while working to close the gap in cancer health disparities. Our Patient Navigators proactively engage with patients in specific programs at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and community health centers at the point of cancer detection to eliminate barriers to timely diagnosis and treatment, and help patients navigate the healthcare system complexities and logistics throughout the care continuum.

“Dana-Farber strives to ensure all patients can access our transformative, world-renowned care by identifying and resolving barriers to care. Through our patient navigation program, we aim to be prepared to address—and anticipate—some of the needs patients might have, such as unemployment, financial problems, and food insecurity. The goal is to identify a patient as early as possible, get to know the patient as early as possible, and be able to respond quickly and thoughtfully to their needs, starting with calling to help them before their first appointment so that no one falls through the cracks.
